Java For Os X Yosemite

Hi. I can’t seem to get the LibreOffice Base to work on my Mac running Yosemite 10.10. (iMac early 2009). Everything else seems to be working fine, except for Base. I keep getting the error message:

'The connection to the data source “New Database” could not be established. No Java Installation could be found. Please check your installation.'

After upgrading to yosemite, java 6 jdk is no longer available, remember that jdk 6 for mac osx is a 32-bit application, older eclipse releases needs a 32-bit jvm in order to run properly, a 32-bit application cannot run with a 64-bit jvm like java 7 or 8, so you need to install jdk 6 to run those java applications that needs a 32 bit. I downloaded and installed the proper version for my MAC OS. The software version was Java v8.25. Since that time, I keep running into the same minor problem after I boot up my 17' Macbook Pro Retina. It continually gives me this Pop Up Box: 'You are running Mac OS X 10.10, which is currently an unsupported platform for Java 7. Get legacy Java for OS X 2015-001 from Apple; That will download an installer that you can use for OS X El Capitan (and Yosemite and Mavericks for that matter). If you run into errors on installation, it’s because you skimmed through the introduction and did not disable SIP / rootless on the Mac. Do that first and Java will install just fine.

I downloaded Java for OS X 2015-001 from the Apple Support page (link is Download Java for OS X 2017-001), and that was seemingly installed without any problems. I then restarted the computer and opened of Base, and keep getting the same error message.

Yosemite

Should I be installing the Java found in the Apple Support Page? Or, should I be installing the Java from this link: https://www.java.com/en/download/mac_download.jsp.

Download Java For Mac Os X Yosemite

If it doesn’t matter which link I download Java from, then how do I get Java to run so that I can use Base?

Thank you.
